Very impressed with the depth of the broth here. This place was incredibly busy even at 3 PM, and we added our name to the waitlist as we waited for the many families dining here to vacate their tables I ordered a grilled pork vermicelli bowl and polished it off, then snuck some broth from my friend. Their popularity has demanded they move into a larger space, so I hope to dine there whenever I return.

(Pho 999) Reno is undoubtedly the premier Vietnamese restaurant in Northern Nevada, offering an exceptional culinary experience. As a seasoned connoisseur of authentic family-owned establishments, I have personally savored six distinct dishes from their menu. My wife and I commenced our meal with the Firecracker Shrimp appetizer, a delectable offering featuring shrimp enveloped in a light, crispy breading that simply melts in the mouth. The succulent shrimp burst with flavor, providing a tantalizing introduction to the culinary delights that awaited us. For my main course, I opted for the Flame Broiled Beef Steak with Lemon Grass, an exquisite dish complemented by perfectly steamed sticky rice, refreshing cucumber slices, and ripe tomato wedges. The steak, reminiscent of the finest filet mignon, was expertly seasoned and grilled to perfection, exuding an irresistible aroma. The accompanying tangy vinaigrette Asian sauce further enhanced the steak's delectable flavors. My wife, ever the adventurous gastronome, selected the Shrimp, Broiled Pork combination with vermicelli, a harmonious blend of succulent shrimp, tender pork, and delicate vermicelli noodles. This dish was an explosion of savory flavors, complemented by a vibrant array of fresh vegetables. Pho 999 is a family-owned gem that invites diners to embark on a culinary adventure, offering a palate of refined cuisine at remarkably affordable prices. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience.

Hands down of the best Vietnamese Restaurants in Reno and Sparks area. My go-tos are the bun Thit nuong, bun Bo hue, and bo kho. Great staff and owners. Always remembers us and we get treated like family. They have a straightforward system, if they look busy ask one of the members to add you on the waiting list and wait to be seated. Super casual dining, great for lunches and dinners. Pro Tip: They may only take to go orders near closing time. Plan your visit accordingly. MUST TRY!

Best pho place in Reno. The broth is flavorful, and they have fish sauce on the table. The meat is quality every time. I usually get number 13 or number 17. They can get busy during peak hours, so you might have to wait if you come in during the lunch or dinner rush. Service is fast. You pay at the front when you finish eating. Ambiance is casual and clean. You can see inside the kitchen from some parts of the restaurant, so they have nothing to hide. I love this place. :-)

I giving 4 stars with hope for a come back! Based on this spots high ratings I was very excited for good things to come. Took my visiting granddaughter from the A.K. who to my total glee will be attending UNR in the fall. She is a huge Pho fan so this was important. At first glance I'm encouraged from all the Asian faces seated and that I'm assuming are content with what's in front of them. We waited a bit for service to happen for us and when that finally did happen our waitress was a bit hard to understand (so Vietnamese :-)) but so happy to accommodate our requests and questions. I ordered the oxtail pho and my granddaughter ordered the chicken pho. Dietary restrictions dictated that mine come with no noodles. I asked for extra broth and she assured me the bowl would be filled to the brim with broth. That made me smile so I opted out of my request for more broth. Set up came promptly with the freshest of ingredients and copious amounts of it all. Nice! Our bowls of beautiful looking pho arrived and getting them all prepared for devouring started. They had a fabulous umami chili sauce that was yum along with all the regular suspects. Prepped and ready to dive in I start with the broth. It was very nice but I privately questioned whether or not it wasn't the sane broth my granddaughter had and hers was chicken. It just didn't seem very beefy. Not sure. Now my disappointment comes crashing home. My oxtails were absolute rubber. Ouch! This was a deal breaker for me. That they would serve tough inedible ox tails is hard to get passed. Hmmmm? It wasn't worth mentioning because at that point it would have been just embarrassing to point out and what were they going to do, take them back and cook them for another hour? Ugh, I took them home in a container with enough broth to pop in my pressure cooker and enjoy on their own. The last sad criticism was that once our soups had been delivered, boom, service died. No one checked on us, no one looked our way once for any opportunity to hail a check or request to-go containers, nada! I watched others get up from their table to chase down an employee to get the same items. I really dont like that. Id like to 3.5 star them but will be generous with 4. Not sure I'd return to 999 Pho with so many other pho spots to choose from. Damn those Ox Tails!

Best pho around the area. You know because there's a line of Vietnamese people waiting so it has to be legit. Can't go wrong with Pho Dac Biet, I liked the soup a lot. The eggrolls were very crispy, also a favorite. The coffee here is legit so strongggggggg but does the job.

Another stop on my search for my new favorite Pho in the area! Let me explain...a few years back, I visited EVERY Pho joint around here to find my favorite...and I did find it. Unfortunately, the owner sold it this last year...the new owners changed the recipe and I don't like it as much as the previous incarnation. So, I'm looking again to see what lives up to my expectations. I had tried this place in my previous search, but, while really good, it was not my favorite. I've been in twice in the last few weeks, because I enjoyed it the first time and wanted to sample the Pho again to see what the standards are and if they're consistent. They're not...so far... I plan to try it a few more times as my search progresses, as I've enjoyed what I received on my recent visits, with some minor disappointments, which I will describe ahead. This will be a regular stop, if they maintain their consistency...we'll see. I always order a Combination Pho...that's my go-to. I like all the different proteins in a Combination and always expect a reasonable amount of them in my serving. The pros: The broth is very flavorful, you get a nice portion of the standard accoutrements (basil, cilantro, lime, jalapeno and bean sprouts) and there has been a reasonable amount of proteins the times I've visited recently. For some reason, they don't put Sweet Chile Sauce on the table, but they brought me some when I asked for it on my second visit. The cons: Is everyone cutting back on the meatballs, tripe and tendon? That seems to be the case in every place I've visited in this search! (Please note, I still have a few places left to visit, including some newer ones that have popped up since my last search). It's not every one of the proteins, just certain ones at different places! For instance, at this place, their current standard is 2 pieces of meatball, not adding up to an entire meatball. That's ok, they're flavorful and large pieces...I'm good with that. But, the tripe and tendon? The first time I revisited, there was an acceptable amount of those in my Pho...not as much as I would like, but they were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The second time? Only 3 small pieces of tendon and no tripe to be found! I mentioned it to the cashier when I paid and was kind of shrugged aside...didn't receive an answer...or an explanation...or an apology with a promise to rectify it on my next visit. As I said, I plan to try it a few more times as my search progresses. I'm giving it 4 stars for now, as I enjoyed it, but that rating could change with later reviews depending on their consistency... This place is always busy and bustling, with a nice vibe, but the kitchen staff doesn't look stressed or frantic, which leads to me wonder as to why the inconsistencies? Consistency is the hallmark of great food service...let's see what happens.
